Lost in Lost

Yes, I am now hooked on this series. The American Film Institute named Lost one of the best 10 series on television and they are absolutely right. It's been a long time since I got so deeply hooked into a series without becoming annoyed at its short comings (i.e. Cold Case or NCIS). I haven't found any shortcomings yet!

I missed all of the first season and so I bought the DVD when it came out. Recently, my hubby TB and I completed a big Lost marathon which totally got us caught up to season 2. And we want more--not six weeks of re-runs! On the up side, each week will be an episode of season 2 TB hasn't seen yet--but we can also watch another marathon by downloading them (for $1.99 each) on itunes and watching them on our computer screen.

Why should this show be such a big deal? It's sort of like Survivor but no one gets voted off. It's sort of like Castaway except there's more than one survivor. Maybe the big hook is that the island itself seems to be a character, very mysterious and scary. Is it really an island? Who's doing all the whispering in the jungle? What's that monster that keeps scaring everyone? What's down the hatch? Why are the numbers 4 8 15 16 24 42 so significant they keep reappearing over and over in all kinds of combinations?

The other hook is the individual stories of each of the castaways. No one has a simple story to tell. Each story adds more and more depth to the characters.

I love this show the way I used to love Dark Shadows and I didn't think that would ever happen again. I've joined mailing lists and been to lots of Lost websites to see what others are saying and to look for clues. I don't mind sharing:

ABC's Lost
Lost-TV
Lost Media

Lost lists:

Lost ABCTV
Lost-Spoilers

There are other lists, too, you just search under yahoo groups. I'll probably join some more because I can't seem to get enough at the moment!
