Carnival of the Cats #209

Hi, Cubby here. Welcome to the 209th Edition of Carnival of the Cats, St. Patrick's edition! We are still getting set up but all the impawtant stuff is already here!

Shy Cubby is doing the Carnival? I can't believe my eyes!

THUNK!

Beware of people who dislike cats...Irish proverb

From
Nobium:
Just because it's still winter outside in some places doesn't mean we can't have spring in our hearts--or inside the house anyway.

From Allan Thinks: Mr. Jones shows us his reach in a very cool photograph of his feet and toes!

From The Poor Mouth: These two desperadoes don't seem like they're going to be coming to their senses anytime soon!

From Catymology: Where does a pear shaped cat sit? The gang says, anywhere he or she wants to!

"To please himself only, the cat purrs." - Irish Proverb

From The Scratching Post: Whoever thought taking pictures of a gorgeous Tuxie could be so complicated?

From My Cats and Funny Stories: Rosie's found a new home for her mousies, now if only they would stay!

From Manx Mnews: Ping and Boo engage in that tried and true sibling game of I-was-here-first/I-want-it-now!

From the House of Chaos: Do you think that cats all basically sleep the same way? If you do, you don't own cats. ;) Here is a great analysis of different sleep positions in one household.

From Blog d'Elisson: Hakuna, missing Matata, experiences what we all ultimately must. Your loved one passes on but life does not stop. It goes on and you continue to live and love, so it is with us and our feline friends. The missing loved one lives on in our hearts.

From No Deep Thoughts: What an adorable video clip of Kate playing fetch with her toy...just don't let her catch you with her claws! Ouch!

From Momma Grace & Company: After Ruse and Audace enjoy a spring romp, it's time to relax and enjoy! On another occasion, Grace puts up with some stuff left on her back in order to get her paws around a catnip mouse!

From Anniemiz: Smudge and Clara snuggle up together so sweetly but look what happens when the camera comes out!

From Lab Kat: Coby's face says it all: ah, warm sunshine!

From Cascade Exposures: Check out the whiskers on Spectra and Seal.

"Who could believe such pleasure from a wee ball o' fur?" --Irish saying

From Chance: The gang here agrees with Chance: scritches make everything better!

From Perfectly Parker: Parker's waiting patiently (or so it seems) for his mommy and daddy to get back. He misses them!

From Chey's Place: As the presidential race gets tighter, Chey answers some tough questions!

From Sleeping Mommy: Aw, Mo and Jasmine's kittens are 10 days old. See the adorable pictures!

From Meeyauw: This week's LOL cats' lectionary Bible reading is for Palm Sunday and is taken from

Matthew 21:1-11
Procession with Palms
Isaiah 50:4-9a
Psalm 31:9-16 (Ps. 31:5)
Philippians 2:5-11
Matthew 26:14—27:66
or Matthew 27:11-54

From Artsy Catsy: What a great connection! Artsy Catsy announced new fundraisers for Lilly Lu and Moki with Earth Rights artwork. Anyone concerned about the stuff we are putting into our water and air can also help pay the bills of a couple of kitties by taking part in the fundraisers!

From Sisu: An accounting of the 100 furs war...and check out Babe's eyes! She approves of the new thermal carafe--so does she like to drink coffee or just smell it? And what draws women to hoard cats? Could it be eyes like these?

From Composite Drawlings: We always enjoy hearing the background stories of kitties online and today we learned about Peanut. Thanks for sharing!

From CatSynth: There are some interesting pictures of Luna but some sad news as well about a friend's kitty. We send lots of prayers and purrs to Upsie at What Did You Eat.

From Elms in the Yard: Rahel's taken pictures of some very pretty kitties of different shades and sizes!

From Mind of Mog: It looks like Meowza's having fun playing on Wordless Wednesday. He also shows off a very handsome tummy! On Sunday, the ever lovely Neighbor Kitty shows up for a visit.

A cat's eyes are windows enabling us to see into another world...Irish legend

From Missy & KC: Miss Faith Boomerang has got a long floofy tail! She reminds us of our Amber but Miss F-B definitely has a longer and floofier and elegant tail!

What do you think, Miss F-B? I think we are both bee-yoo-tee-ful!

From A Cat's Perspective:
What big beautiful eyes you have Samantha! No wonder you have such a wide-eyed innocent look, you and Tigger are perched on Mommy's office stuff!

From Diamond's Lair: Diamond Blue Eyes shares a scrapbook page on this lovely easy-like-Sunday morning!

"There were once two cats of Kilkenny.
Each thought this was one cat too many.
So they fought and they fit
And they scratched and they bit,
'Til excepting their nails
And the tips of their tails
Instead of two cats there weren't any."
--Traditional limerick

From Stranger Ranger: What decadently luxurious chair! Look how tiny Ivy and Maddie seem to be! It makes us wish we had a time share, too!

From the TT&TOT gang this week:

Sleep

Groovin
Man Cat Monday: A New Present
Cats on Tuesday: Looking Out For Each Other

Well, that's all folks! Happy St. Patrick's Day and don't indulge too much!

Oh, too late for me! I over-indulged in 'nip. I don't even know who I am...Mouse or Sox. Better sleep it off...

See you next week at Chey's Place for Carnival of the Cats #210!

Friday, March 14

The carnival is coming!

Sox: What's that noise? Sounds like a lot of cats and kittens coming this way!

Kosmo: It's no big deal...it's the carnival of the cats. We're hosting it again this weekend!

You can watch and learn from us and then you'll be able to do a COTC too! Right now Cubby is probably still too shy.

Indigo: Or maybe I can lure Cubby out. I know all about shyness! Maybe we can all do the COTC together!

Kosmo: In that case, I better take a nap! Trying to do one carnival with all you guys is going to be hard! See you!

Carnival of the Cats #175

Hello, welcome to the 175th edition of the Carnival of the Cats. I am Indigo and I've come out of hiding long enough to introduce this week's round-up.

Purrs and Prayers

Rafe of No Deep Thoughts is worse and is being treated with antibiotics and fluids. We're sorry to hear it and hope he's feeling better really soon!

Zed Monster and Braum of Bad Kitty Cats are in need of some purrs too. Zed is missing more of his tail and Braum isn't feeling well. We hope they are both much better very soon and that Zed stops dropping off parts of his tail!

Rahel of Elms in the Yard is having a furry fundraiser to help defer the cost of treating the Lady in Red's health issues. Please help if you can!

In the News

Candidate Cato of Creatures of the Earth continues on the campaign trail, advocating support for the country of origin labeling food act

Zed Monster of Bad Kitty Cats Journal announces a line of greeting card Shoebox (a division of Hallmark) would like to introduce. Check out the first of the cards!

Check out the cat rodeo at Magick Cat Cauldron!

A baby skunk wanted to see what Pat's Cats were up to and became stuck outside the window!

KT of The Scratching Post bravely defended home and hearth against invading raccoons!

Adoptable

Jack, Sawyer and Charlie (can we say Lost names) are up for adoption to a good home at No Deep Thoughts.

Advice

How To Hold A Cat Without Losing An Eye reminds us that kitten claws + inflatable chair = funny story

Cade of Write to Right Your Business Opportunity shares how pets--and specifically his kitty Easy--can help with a home business.

Audace of Momma Grace & Company offers a different method of dining: drop and nibble.

Psst! Did you hear...?

Gaston of Catnabbit has an exclusive on what "brand" of kitty litterBrittany Spears' cat uses!

Where did all that hair come from on Blog d'Elisson?

And speaking of pillows, did you hear about the 16 pound pillow over at The Poor Mouth?

And speaking of pillows and litter, check out Henry's choice of either or both at Texas Oasis

The piano--not Huckleberry--had too much to drink at Stereophilia. Not only that, but Bagheera Sings Mehitabel!

What good stuff has Mr. Grrr of Composite Drawlings got in his tummy? He's not telling!

Special Talents

Ferdinand T. Cat of The Conservative Cat explains to us wondering humans that cats have the ability to see, hear and smell things we can't.

Both Ferdy and Blog d'Elisson write about Oscar, a handsome kitty with a "grim" and unusual talent for sniffing out ... soon-to-be dead people.

When not avoiding the camera, cats can take on the most interesting expressions. Check out Hobbes at Dolphin's Dock.

Groomed or not, kittens are always so photogenic !

Kittens are photogenic and cute even when they've been rescued from a barn! These pictures come from Watermark's Cousin Sue!

The Oubliette announces that the micro-fuzzy kitten has a name now: Freya. You are so adorable, Freya!

Don't try to take a picture of Thalia when she's sound asleep on her favorite sheepskin--you'll never see her face!

Here is serious Nick of It's all Good with a backstory to explain his intent expression!

John of StrangeRanger shares pictures of Maddie and Granny-cat.

Kitty communication

Just look at this face? Doesn't Baby clearly communicate time-to-get-my-dinner? What a lovely face!

Rocket of KeeWee's corner says what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine and you can't leave home without me!

Gree of House of (Mostly) Black Cats swears "I did not make this mess!"

There is no mistaking this message from Life From A Cat's Perspective: Don't mess with me!

Babeth of House of Chaos shares the Lord of the Toys' laptop to write about the hilarious habits of cats.

CatSynth's Luna has a good bit of advice about unemployment

What are Tigger and Eli of Val's Bien saying to us? They seem to have something tasty in mind!

Don't forget about how we communicate when we want undivided attention!

Mysteries

Aloysius of Catymology was looking forward to spam on the Letterman show but couldn't find it. Where did the spam go?

We are mystified about why Blogger would think we are a spam blog. Mouse says, could it be this mess I didn't make?

Hoo boy! We think our kitty cats are lovely, handsome, regal etc and photogenic as they are. The kitties at Hello Kitty Hell look really pissed and who can blame them? Submitter says, "More people than you imagine are willing to humiliate their cats..." Not us! Our guys would never put up with that crap!

Reasonable Facsimilies Etc.

Who doesn't love LOLcats? At Welcome to the Future Jeremy's comic kitty stands up for his rights

Last, but not least, here is something new to try: a kitty cat podcast by Cal Curtis.

See, Indigo? Told you it wouldn't be hard!

Hyup hyup, when will it be my turn? When will it be my turn?

Wrong carnival, dipsy-doodle! Try again next week!

Have a great weekend everyone!

170th Carnival of the Cats

Here we are, the Three Katketeers, proudly hosting the 170th Carnival of the Cats.
Where is our fourth? She declares she is her own little family, living with the older teenage female and will have nothing to do with us!

Indigo sings: "Leave me alone, won't you leave me alone, please leave me alone, oh leave me alone, please leave me...just leave me..."

Feh, we say. Anyway, now on to the round-up!

Now, if small children can have furniture of their own, why not us? Look at the pretty sofa Matata has. Now, we all want one too! We must go right over and ask She Who Must Be Obeyed at Blog d'Elisson's at which Costco she purchased this pretty pretty sofa!

Kit at How to Hold A Cat Without Losing An Eye has a most unusual way of playing with her toy mice. We have been through this sort of situation before with our humans and were rolling around on the floor. We think you should read Toy Mice Are More Fun because we could not tell it any better!

From frivolity to seriousness-- The Crazy Cat Woman gives us an update on the progress of a starving little momma kitty that was dropped off at her place.

There is a very handsome guest kitty named Yoda visiting Granny at Walking Prescott and Max says there's not room enough in a two part house for two kitties!

Mean Kitty tells us through her Typing Slave about two big issues this week: the the heat and the rearranging of all her stuff in the house!

Carry at NWOutdoorGrrrl introduces the cutest bunch of kittens you'd ever want to see! Carry commented, "We foster kittens for a no-kill shelter. This is our most recent batch." That is such a kind thing to do!

What are you looking at, Mimi? Check out the expression in her eyes at The Poor Mouth!

Marilynn of Momma Grace and Company reports that all went well at the visit to the vet except for a bit of orneriness from Audace. One thing we did not know--a three year rabies vaccine has caused cancer in cats? We have to talk to our vet about that!

Jax at Texas Oasis has become a snuggly lap kitty lately. This is great except he is a bit on the hefty side at twenty loving pounds of purriness!

What a difference in Miss Scarlett at Melange! She went from being a rather large kitty to a very sick one, losing about 10 pounds and was so miserable, poor thing! Go and see her beautiful new look after the doctor finally figured out what was wrong! We are so happy she's doing so well after her surgery!

Skittles at The Whole Kitten Kaboodle says "I am running for President, and here is my first official stump!"

Abby of Manx Mnews has the ambition to join a circus but first must answer a more important call!

There are some lovely pictures of Ivy at Strange Ranger as she steals the
sun puddle in which Maddie usually sleeps.

Rahel of Elms in the Yard shares a picture of a neighborhood cat scoping out the dinner choices up a tree.
