South Dakota and Roe v. Wade

Governor Mike Rounds of South Dakota signed into law a ban on almost all abortions except if a woman's life is in danger. It doesn't make an exception for incest or rape. It's a big challenge to Roe v. Wade and I wonder if this Supreme Court will end up hearing the case. I'm sure the law is going to be challenged and fought all the way to that level.

My gut feeling is that the Supreme Court won't overturn Roe v. Wade. Maybe they'll tell South Dakota their law is unconstitutional. I don't think that because I believe women have a right to abortions under any circumstances. I don't. I think that they won't overturn it because that would be admitting we've been killing babies for over 30 years and no one can stomach that.

They're not even called babies. They're called fetuses and they're called "not viable" and parasitic and other terms to make them seem not human. But they are babies.

When I was less than a month pregnant, I had an emergency and needed ultrasound. I could see my son's heart beating. That is life...there was life even before. To me, life begins when the sperm fertilizes the egg. Period.

In some cases, a person who kills a pregnant mother is charged with two homicides.

You can't have it both ways. If a 5 month old baby can be murdered along with his or her mother, then abortion is also murder.

I am not so extreme that I would go march in front of a clinic or try to hurt or kill a doctor who performs abortions. I am not going to be sorry if Roe v. Wade is overturned. That's just how I feel about it.
