10 Favorite Movies to Quote

Oh, boy, I'm loving this one!!!

1. Forrest Gump:

Forrest says: Mama always said life was like a box a chocolates, never know whatyou're gonna get.

Stupid is as stupid does.

I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is.

2. Field of Dreams

Voice: If you build it, he will come!

John (father): Is this heaven?
Ray (son): It's Iowa.
John: Iowa? I could have sworn this was heaven.
Ray: Is there a heaven?
John: Oh yeah. It's the place where dreams come true.
(Ray looks around, seeing his wife playing with their daughter on the porch.)
Ray: Maybe this is heaven.

3. Parenthood

Tod: You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.

Grandma: You know when I was nineteen, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster...I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.

Karen: Do you really have to go?
Gil: My whole life is "have to."

4. Harvey

Elwood P. Dowd: Well, I've wrestled with reality for 35 years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it.

5. Casablanca

Rick: ...Here's looking at you, kid.

Rick: Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.

Rick: We'll always have Paris...

6. O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Delmar O'Donnell: Them syreens did this to Pete. They loved him up and turned him into a horny toad.
and then later...
Delmar O'Donnell: We thought you was a toad!
Pete: What?
Delmar O'Donnell: [leaning in, speaking slower] We thought you was a toad!

Pete: Do not seek the treasure!

7. Die Hard

John McClane: Nine million terrorists in the world and I gotta kill one with feet smaller than my sister.

John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.

John McClane: Now I know what a TV dinner feels like.

8. It's A Wonderful Life

Clarence: You've been given a great gift, George: A chance to see what the world would be like without you.

Clarence: You see George, you've really had a wonderful life. Don't you see what a mistake it would be to just throw it away?

Clarence: Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?

9. A Christmas Story

Different characters: You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Father's curses: Naddafinger, you mundane noodle, sons-of-bitches-Bumpeses!

Waiters: Deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra.
Chop Suey Palace Owner: No, no, not 'ra ra ra ra', 'la la la la'! Try again.
Waiters: Deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra.

10. West Side Story

Maria: [singing] I feel pretty, oh so pretty! I feel pretty, and witty, and gay!

The Jets: [singing] Here come the Jets, like a bat out of hell - Someone gets in our way, someone don't feel so well.

Bernardo: [singing] Everywhere grime in America / Organised crime in America / Terrible time in America
Anita: You forget I'm in America

Well, I'm off to run errands but I'm definitely going to have to check out the other bloggers who participate!!!!

I love your list! Forrest Gump was my #11! "Lt. Dan! What are you doin' here?!" "You wrote me a letter, you idiot." Love it! (And thanks for the comment!)

Great list. I can't believe I didn't think of A Christmas Story for mine. One of the best movies of all time. The leg lamp is awesome.

Oh, I should have thought of Finding Nemo, too. Dory had some of the best lines. "I wish I could speak Whale."

Good on including Forrest Gump and West Side Story, too.
