Lady Bird Johnson

Before I go on blathering about our vacation, I just wanted to write a little about Lady Bird Johnson, former first lady. She passed away yesterday at the age of 94. I admired her a lot because of her dedication to conservation and trying to make this country beautiful. I remember she wanted to take down all the ugly billboards and replace them with trees and flowers. She was very shy yet very dignified and when she had to, she would put her fears of speaking in public aside. She supported her husband, late president Lyndon B Johnson, during some really painful times. Protestors of the Vietnam War would call him names and chant things like "hey hey LBJ how many babies did you kill today?" She never lost her cool.

Rest in peace, Lady Bird.
