I love my son but he is so absent minded he forgot to go to one of his college finals--or went to the wrong one. He has to send himself reminders on his cell phone about everything from going to class to taking out the garbage. And now he can't find his wallet. I think it's more traumatic for me than it is for him although it might be an even contest: imagine being 20 years old and needing Mom to drive you all over town again.
Thanks to Osama bin Laden, getting a new social security card or a drivers' license is no stroll in the park anymore. In fact, it's Catch-22. To replace his social security card, Bill needs to provide his license...except that is missing too. The instructions say if he can't get his license in 10 days, he can substitute another picture ID--his student ID card...which was also in his wallet. Arrrrgh! So tomorrow he needs to get a new student ID so that he can file an application for a replacement social security card so that he can then get a new drivers' license.
In NJ, you have to have 6 points of ID. I hate going to NJ's DMV. It took 3 or 4 visits for me to finally be able to get a NJ license and I find the bureaucracy and lines maddening!
Now, Bill is 20 and he should be doing all this on his own...which he is, sort of. The thing is, there is no mass transportation in this area and cab drivers will not come into the community (I haven't been able to figure that one out, it's not like we're anymore high crime than any other farm town). As I've kvetched about on other occasions, everything is a 20 minute drive away. Bill has classes on both community college campuses--sometimes on the same day! He also tutors on both campuses now. So he has to get to these places somehow. Heidi can pick up some of the slack but I'll be doing a lot of driving until he can get everything replaced.
Like I wasn't busy enough as it was.
We still don't know what's going on with TB. Sometimes he's got a fever, sometimes his temp is below normal. We haven't gotten the results back on his blood work and he is going to call tomorrow to find out what's up and to see when we can get him scheduled for an MRI. He feels a little better than he did thanks to a lot of bed rest but any time he gets up on his feet for more than a few minutes, the pain starts up again.
