Diabetic Hypersmolar Syndrome

What is diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome? I read all about it because TB's sugar level was 600. I almost fainted. I wanted him to go to the emergency room but he'd just taken a large dose of insulin and wanted to wait. Fortunately, his sugar has been coming down. About 30 minutes ago, it was at 498. TB's sugar has never been that high although it's been in the 200s and 300s lots of times. That is why he has neuropathy as well as numbness in areas of his feet and toes.

Well, we need this like we need another hole in the head, don't we? He hasn't been sleeping and has been showing the effects of insomnia as well. So tomorrow we're back to the doctor to see if we can get any relief for him. We sat the big kids down and had a long talk with them. I don't know if that's going to make a difference.

Tomorrow TB and I will start swimming and working out in the pool at the Y. That should help blow off a lot of stress too...and fat, I hope!

i KNOW A LADY WHO LOST 30 LBSjust by eating nothing that has flour in it, and another who lost `100 lbs just walking 3~5 km per day, visiting people and their dogs and cats etc..this over a year..she eats mostly fish, fruits, veggies, low fat coffees,etc..GOOD LUCK!

Are you using an insulin pump, or just injections?

If you're on a pump, you can get big highs like that down a little faster with a super bolus. I use this whenever I've a high over about 240 and it works pretty well.
