Cats on Tuesday: Cubby Can See!

We took Cubby to the vet for his yearly checkup--something we'd been nervous about doing because Cubby's so anxious about being held and carried. When we adopted him last year he'd had a clean bill of health from his vet before coming to us.

The first month he lived with us, he stayed under the bed almost all the time. Late at night, Sox would draw him out to play but if we made eye contact then Cubby would dart right back under the bed. A few weeks after that, he would come close enough to us to sniff our fingers and then he'd let us pet him for a few seconds.

It took this long for him to warm up and trust us so we were even more nervous about taking him to the vet but knew we had to do it for his health's sake.

First good news: Cubby did really well!

Even better news: the doctor examined Cubby's "blind" eye and said that he's not blind at all! He showed us that Cubby's eye was responding to light. At some point in his life, he had a scratched cornea that healed on its own. The brown "cloud" we see sometimes in that eye is scar tissue and pigmentation, but there's nothing wrong with his sight.

When we got home, Cubby hid from us for just a little while but pretty soon he came around and everything is fine again!

That's terrific news! Hooray for Chubbie. Bet he conned you out of treats to get over the Bad Vet experience. Meow from us in Malaysia.

Good news ! I am happy for you. A trip to the vet is always terrible for both, cat and human ! When I take Arthur to the vet he yowls the whole way so that I become deaf and little Rosie suddenly has a loud high voice like a soprano !

That's good news! Cubby looks so cute in the picture. My cats always want to sit and sleep on my stuff too. :)

Glad to read that Cubby's doin' well; we worry about them as tho they're our children, don't we?!

I hope you all have a great week...

Aw! Nice to hear he had a good check up. I love orange tabbies, they remind me of my childhood cat, Tiger.
