10 Favorite Movie/Song Remakes
I cheated a little on this one. I can't think of any movie remakes I really really like over the originals so I focused on songs. I know the list isn't supposed to be remakes I prefer over originals but that's what I chose to look at. Anyway, I went to a website that listed song remakes to help me remember.
1. Bette Davis Eyes--prefer Kim Carnes' to Jackie DeShannon's
2. Blinded By the Light--Manfred Mann over Springsteen (yep, he was first)
3. Big Yellow Taxi--Counting Crows over Joni Mitchell (gasp!)
4. Dancing in the Streets--Jagger/Bowie over Martha & the Vandellas
5. Daydream Believer--Smashmouth over Monkees
6. Drift Away--Uncle Kraker to Dobie Gray
7. Knockin on Heaven's Door--Warren Zevon over Dylan
8. Red Red Wine--sacrilege!!!! UB40 over Neil Diamond, so sorry, Neil!
9. Gloria--Laura Branigan's over Umberto Tozzi's
10. You Can't Hurry Love--Phil Collins over the Supremes

I didn't know there was another version of Gloria. I agree with you on Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes" too. She did that really well. I loved her unique voice.
I completely agree with your list....great choices! Gloria is one of my all time favourite songs :)
