Kill that legislation ... PLEASE!

This is an email I just sent to family and close friends, people I normally don't annoy with my politics:

Hi you guys,
Usually I don’t get involved with politics but have you been following this health care reform bill? It’s turned into a joke, designed to help no one but the insurance and drug companies. I am SO ANGRY.

I’ve petitioned and advocated for health care reform since 1988 or 1989. Does anyone remember that Rich, the kids and I appeared in US News & World Reports and also on The David Brinkley Hour back when the Clintons were discussing reform? We knew that long ago the system was dysfunctional … Rich had “catastrophic” health care insurance and we still went bankrupt. I’ve marched on picket lines with union employees. I’ve called and I’ve written letters. I’ve emailed.

Now, instead of being reassured that my full-time working, full time college student kids will have *some* kind of coverage, I fear they may end up “criminals”. Oh yes, there’s a mandate for everyone to be insured … the kids would be FORCED to buy junk policies from one of the insurance companies … one of the ones causing this problem in the first place! What if my kids can’t afford it? They can barely afford to pay all their expenses as it is and my husband and I are unable to help them financially.

Now, we’re the faces of people you know – not just people you hear about or read about in the newspaper and say, oh, gee that’s tough … more poor people draining our system or illegals or “bums” or whatever you might think when you read about so many uninsured and underinsured.

Please at least contact your representative so that this piece of crap doesn’t pass. If we’re to have health reform, let it be something that actually HELPS the ones who need it the most!

Thanks.

That would be a great birthday present for me.

Love/Best wishes,
Cassie

Subject: Stop a bad bill

Hi,

The latest Senate health care bill has no public option. No expansion of Medicare. And it does too little to guarantee that uninsured Americans will actually be able afford the coverage they'll be required to purchase.

But it's not too late to fix the bill. And as Joe Lieberman has shown, just one senator willing to stand in the way can force legislation to be changed dramatically.

Senator Bernie Sanders has already made clear that he's opposed to the legislation in its current form. I just signed a petition urging him and other progressives to block it until it's fixed. Will you join me?

Thanks!

That's difficult to me to understand because we all have health care insurance automatically it is the official public one from the government. The fee is included in the taxes we pay on our salary. When only one person is working, wife or husband and children are insured as well. This insurance is obligatory and everybody has to pay it. If now you want to have a private insurance then it's your private business too, and that costs money of course. But you always keep the legal one. This is law in all European countries I know.
