Why is ricin in a roll of quarters?

I'm sure there are plenty of people blogging about the stupid decision Bush's administration made about the ports deal, the possibility of civil war breaking out in Iraq, possible restriction on abortions in South Dakota, and other hot issues right now so I won't go into any of that stuff today. I'm alarmed by the fact that a university student found ricin in a roll of quarters while she was doing her laundry.

Ricin is a deadly poison! A person can experience difficulty breathing, fever, cough, nausea and sweating to severe vomiting and dehydration. It doesn’t take much to make you very sick or very dead!

Ricin is extracted from castor beans and can be added to food or water, injected or sprayed as an aerosol. It can be in the form of a powder, mist, pellet, or it can be dissolved in water or weak acid.

How did it get there? Someone had to put it in the roll of quarters…but who? Someone with a grudge against the girls? Someone at the bank?

A scary thought occurred to me as I read this. It would be easy for members of terrorist cells to spread this poison in college dorms, malls, movie theaters—places where many people would gather and be totally unsuspecting.

However it happened, it was no innocent mistake. Ricin is not something that is left lying around. Scary!
