God's Blessings

Not long after this picture was taken, I noticed Sox wasn't eating his dry food anymore although he was hungry. I bought some canned food and fed it to him and could see he was having trouble chewing and swallowing his food. We took him to the vet and discovered his tongue is swollen and he has a sore on the roof of his mouth.

Sox is always digging chicken bones out of the garbage. Lately we've been tying them all up in a smaller bag and disposing them so he can't get at them but we figure he may have gotten one that hurt his mouth...or it could be something more serious.

Many people in financial straits have had to give up their pets because they couldn't afford to care for them. We are almost at that point but with God's grace, we were able to get Sox the treatment he needed. We had $100 cash to pay for the office visit and medicine. The vet agreed to take a postdated check for the bloodwork (we get our social security next Wednesday). I was figuring out in my head which bill we could skip paying this month.

The first blessing was the medicine. One of the medicines Sox was prescribed had just expired. The doctor said it was still good and if we wanted it, she'd give it to us for free and so we agreed to take it. That left us with a balance of $182 and I wrote the post dated check.

When we got home, we found the second blessing. TB overpaid the union dues this year. Because he is disabled, he is only supposed to pay half of the dues. There was a check waiting for us for $174. I won't have to skip a bill.

We love our pets and won't give them up unless we run out of miracles.

We're praying Sox's mouth problem isn't something more serious.

I'm so glad for you guys and for Sox, that he has such a loving family :-) We've had stuff like that happen before, and isn't it awesome to feel God's hand and know that He is God of the details as well as God of the big stuff?? :-) My favorite one was when we went shopping one day in November years ago... money was tight but we all needed things like underwear, socks, and some things for the kiddo who was growing like a weed... the bill was $114 and I thought, "Yikes! That's gonna hurt..." but what do you do? That night we went to our annual Marine Corps Birthday celebration and I bought a strip of 3 - 50/50 raffle tickets. I won! The prize? $114. It brought me to tears. God is good!
