Small update on Sox
Thank you all so much for your kind words of support, I am truly overwhelmed!
TB and I decided we'll take Sox for another opinion. We get our Social Security in on Wednesday.
Meantime, Sox seems to have a little more energy and is certainly scarfing up the baby food! He definitely has appetite and is friendly and loving as always, even when we're giving him medicine.
Thanks again for all the purrayers, advice and best wishes! :)

I think it is a very good idea to get another opinion. Your vet could refer you to a specialist who may well be able to offer a clearer and accurate diagnosis. I hope whoever you go to has a much better attitude than the vet who wanted to put Sox down. As long as Sox is enjoying his food and happy then that's a good thing.
Rumbly purrs and love to you all

Poor Sox! I would definitely agree that a second opinion would be a good idea. When I found out Betsy had cancer, the first vet I went to was horrible. He tried one or two things and then was like, "Tough luck, she won't last much longer." It broke my heart, and I decided to find a vet closer to home to help her through the last few months. While the new vet clinic had a similar diagnosis, they tried some different tactics that I honestly feel gave me more quality time with Betsy than I would have had if we had stuck with vet #1.
As long as Sox is eating, is loving, and his quality of life isn't suffering, then you should keep fighting as long as you can. It was hard, but I knew in my heart that Betsy wasn't ready to go anytime soon, and she hung in there as long as she could and surprised the vets at the clinic with her tenacity.
Your family is so wonderful for bringing him and Cubby home, and I know if he could say so, he'd agree that you give him a fantastic home. Just give him tons of love like you usually do and I'll keep kitty and family in my prayers.
Also, something you might want to ask the vet. I'm not sure if this will help due to where the tumor is located and/or it's size, but the vet clinic that was so wonderful with Betsy ended up giving her a series of injections that would ramp up her white blood cells and make them fight the tumor like an infection, breaking it apart.
I'm not sure it this would help make it small enough for surgery to be an option, or if surgery can't happen no matter what. Betsy's tumor was on her back leg near her hip, and while we wound up not being able to amputate (it was too far into her pelvis), I believe this gave her another 3-5 months with us of good quality life.
I'm not sure what the name of it is, but if you need a specific name, leave a comment on my site (not sure if you have my new email address), and I will find out.
Getting another opinion will help you decide what's the best thing to do for Sox. Please keep us posted on what happens.
Purrs to you...and Sox...
Dat is good, dat he is eating and playful. Mom sez it's a good sign dat he is not ready to go anywhere just yet.
We are keepin Sox in our purrayers and both of you as well...we are glad he is enjoyin the baby food and we hope that there is a way to make things work for Sox...
