Thursday Thirteen #66: Favorite Songs From 1969

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Favorite Songs From 1969

I had a really hard time narrowing these down to just thirteen. I even cheated on one: I listed three songs by one band, Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Since I'm so late posting today, I'm not summarizing each song. Most of these I loved either because I liked the way they sounded or because of the song's message.

At least one song should be familiar to everyone. For those who were teenagers in the late 1960s, I'm curious to know if these would have been on your playlists?

1. "Aquarius" by The Fifth Dimension

2. "Everyday People" by Sly & The Family Stone

3. "Hair" by The Cowsills

4. "Spinning Wheel" by Blood, Sweat & Tears

5. "Love Theme From Romeo & Juliet" by Henry Mancini & His Orchestra

6. "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley

7. "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising" & "Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival

8. "In The Year 2525" by Zager & Evans

9. "Games People Play" by Joe South

10. "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond. I so totally had a crush on him!

11. "Hawaii Five-O" by the Ventures. This was one of my favorite shows, too, that year.

12. "Guitarzan" by Ray Stevens. This was just too funny!

13. "Atlantis" by Donovan

I don't think I could even begin to come up with a list like this.

My TT is here.

Oh yes, yes, and YES!!! Golly, you made me remember that I had seen the 5th Dimension in D.C. in 1967. Whoa...many many moons ago.

Mine is HERE if you'd like to make time to visit with me!!

I remember most of these, but I was only eight when they came out. Happy T13!
