Monday Sundries

From a baby boomer newsletter I get in my email:

The April 14th Conundrum
April 14, 1865... not a good night to go to the theatre.

April 14, 1912... not a good night to be on an ocean liner.

April 14, 1965... not a good day to be a convicted murderer.

April 14, 1913-2008: not a good night to be up late doing your taxes.

Weird, huh?

Did anyone else wait until today to get their taxes done? I did, boy am I glad that's done now!

Today is the first time in a long time I got close to the proper portion sizes and proportions of fat to carbs to protein. Here is what I ate--or as close to it as I could get:

Egg omelet or scrambled egg, with dark-green vegetables
White potato, home fries, with green or red peppers and onions
Bread, whole wheat, 100%, toasted
Fruit cocktail or mix (including citrus fruits), raw
Egg roll, with beef and/or pork
Vegetable combination (including carrots, broccoli, and/or dark-green leafy), cooked, with soy-based sauce
Shrimp teriyaki (shrimp with soy-based sauce) (mixture)
Salmon,grilled 30
Beef steak, broiled or baked, NS as to fat eaten
Broccoli, cooked, from frozen, fat not added in cooking
Peas, green, raw
Mayonnaise, regular
creamer, International Delight fat free
Milk, cow's, fluid, 2% fat

I used www.fitday.com and normally I like the site but I found they didn't have tas much information as I needed. For example, I couldn't find mixed frozen vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and snow peas. I couldn't find sugar snap peas. I bet there's a difference in the calories, too! I also forgot to add the pat of butter and of strawberry I had on my toast. Tsk tsk.

Thing is, I can see now how the carbs just have to go. So does the fat and that's going to be very hard!

This picture has to do with the piano theme in the Monday Music Mambo!

Question of the Day

And the Question of the Week is…

What are (or were) your parents names, and what did you call them when you were a child? For example, “mom” and “dad”; or did you have some crazy nickname for them? Or did you call them by their first names?

Their names are Norma and Peter and I just called them plain old boring "Mom and Dad".

Monday Music Mambo
