1. Okay, I love the sun but could do with a little less of the heat, LOL. It was nearly 90 degrees today. I had to turn on the air conditioner. We have air conditioning! That's a GiST for sure!
2. I lost track of the time again today. That means I'm happily busy. :)
3. I found several pairs of shorts at Goodwill today that fit me and who could beat the price? I spent somewhere between $10-15. "What a bargain!"
4. Discussions about Lost on and offline have been stimulating and fun!
5. My mother-in-law stopped by today and we had a nice visit. She's still experiencing problems but at least she's out of the hospital and getting around. She's having more tests on April 14 and we'll be praying for her.
6. I was very mindful of the amount of food I ate today and which choices I made as well.
7. As always, I am so grateful for the whole GiST concept and supportive community!

GiST 108
1. The beautiful, warm days tempt me into losing track of the time so I forget to blog and forget to GiST. Enjoying the sun and daydreaming are definite blessings!
2. Remembering it's important to keep count of the small graces in my day too.
3. A cool refreshing breeze so that I don't get too hot!
4. The first 10 days of the month at GNC (which is where we get some of our vitamins and proteins)...these are deeper discount days!
5. Lost is on tonight!
6. Making plans to see Man of LaMancha at the community college with my son.
7. Taking my shoes off to let my feet cool off and wiggling my toes
8. Air conditioning in the car--it got really hot being all shut up like that during the day!
9. Dinners that can be prepared on top of the stove and not in the oven on hot days
10. Kosmo lying on his back with his paws up, showing off his tummy, and basking in a sunspot. Here's a picture.

Cats on Tuesday: Neck Therapy

CATS ON TUESDAY is a group of cat lovers who share pictures and/or stories about their cats once a week, hosted by Gattina.
Here I am, late as usual! It's been so beautiful outside and I've been so busy that I've lagged behind in everything...including now Cats on Tuesday!
This picture was actually taken in February, I think. Munchkin decided to wrap herself around my neck to warm it up. It felt nice, much like the bag of rice you'd stick in the microwave and heat up to put around your neck when it's sore. Munchkin made a much more interesting and loving therapy pillow though.
Now that it's 85 degrees out, though, I think I'd rather have a bag of ice!

GiST #107 and Sunday Memes
Once again, I seem to have fallen behind but I have lots of graces to make up for some of the downers that went on around here!
1. This is so small thing but a very large grace: Christ's resurrection and promise of salvation.
2. What a beautiful, lovely day! The sun is shining brightly and it's so warm out--it's almost summer-like!
3. Our grandson is such a joy. I was like a kid again on Friday when TB and I took the little guy to Ft. Medford to play. He'd been looking forward to it all week and was eagerly waiting for us on the front steps on his house when we pulled up. I'm sharing some pictures.
4. Up, down and all around--it's nice to know I can still get around play ground equipment! Here we are on the upper level of the fort, pausing a moment to have our picture taken.
I can still swing, too!
5. For some reason, I had a dread of going out that day but I fought it off and went anyway. We had such a wonderful time so it's a good thing I did!
6. We still haven't heard from the Making Homes Affordable program and it turns out our bank didn't give us as much information as they should have ... but the lady at HUD (Housing & Urban Development) was so helpful and supportive to me on Friday!
7. Both my son and daughter forgot they were supposed to renew their car registrations! My son was pulled over by a police officer who could have had my son's car towed but instead he allowed Bill to call AAA. Now we need to drive Bill around until tomorrow or Tuesday which is the earliest he can get to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
8. Coloring Easter eggs with Tomas was so much fun yesterday!
9. I checked the leg of lamb in time so that it didn't become over-done! It cooked a lot faster than I anticipated!
10. I watched "Precious" last night and although it was sad or horrifying in places, I thought it was one of the best movies I've seen. I was riveted the entire time.
11. I was riveted by another book I finished in just a few days, A Fractured Mind, by Robert B. Oxnam.
12. I took on the challenge of a classic! I'm going to read Moll Flanders by Jonathan Swift. I'm not in high school so I don't have to bother with classics but I decided they were still important to me!
I love the expression on my grandson's face!

GiST #106
1. The sun not only came out today, it was so warm I could go about without my sweat jacket. Yay!
2. TB's stool collapsed yesterday and he went over backwards in the room converted to his workshop. His head missed the saw by mere inches. There's carpeting on the floor (covered with drop cloths) so he didn't crack his head open.
3. On the way home, TB found more really fantastic logs and asked if it was okay to take them. The owner of the house said she'd left them out for a friend to pick up a few days ago but since he hadn't shown up, we were more than welcome to them. It would be doing her a favor. It turns out she works at the developmental center and expressed an interest in TB's little projects--maybe they'd sell at the center's little shop. Hmmm...
4. As we were leaving the parking lot of a doctor's office, we heard this crrrrrunch sound. There was no impact nor any sensation of driving over anything and we couldn't see anything in the parking spot we'd just backed out of. We didn't think anything more of it and on the way home, we spotted the logs I just wrote about. TB loaded them into the car and we drove home. When we started to get out of the car, TB went to switch his sun glasses for his regular glasses and suddenly said, "Where are my glasses?" He'd been carrying them in his tee shirt pocket and now they weren't there.
Oh brother. I said maybe they'd fallen out of his pocket when he bent over to lift the logs. I didn't ask him why he'd put his expensive glasses in his tee shirt pocket. We drove back to the lady's house but the glasses weren't there.
Then we remembered the crrrrunch noise. Ohhhhhhhh nooooooooo. Those glasses cost over $300! At first TB wasn't sure he wanted to go back to the doctor's office but then asked if I minded if he did. I wasn't happy about it because it's a drive but I had this feeling we should go and so I said no, I didn't. Filled with dread, we decided to drive back. As we pulled up to the spot we'd parked in, I thought I saw the frames and my heart just sunk.
We both got out of the car and TB stooped to pick up the glasses. He put them on and stood up. I was surprised. The frames were bent a little bit but not too bad. And then I realized that the lenses looked fine. We shouted and high-fived. How wonderful!
5. We still hadn't heard about our Making Homes Affordable application so I called HUD. I found out the bank hadn't given us all the information we'd needed about the paperwork but the young woman I talked to was sympathetic and very informative. She had me go to the website and showed me all the forms I needed to download and fill out. She encouraged me to call the bank and find out what was going on.
I hated to do it because it's always such a frustrating ordeal. Today, though, my call seemed to go right through. The lady at the bank said there are so many applications it's caused a logjam in the approvals. She agreed that I needed to be filling out those forms from HUD so I'm going to get right on it over the weekend.
6. I met with my advisor at the college today. When I first applied to go back to school in 2006, I'd said I wanted to major in journalism. I always wanted to write and I think I'm good at it. I'd forgotten that. The advisor asked if I still wanted to pursue that major and I said YES. It would be easier to get the degree in education and be a teacher's aide since that's where I have most of my experience but ... I've always wanted to write, right from childhood. And freelance writers are in increasing demand so why not?
I am deeply greatful for how God takes care of us and I especially felt that after TB fell and after we found his glasses only mildly damaged. I felt His love and support when I said YES to going for the degree in journalism.
It ended up being a wonderful day.
